I like how you framed this, Jonas. The two worlds are disturbing and how children can get caught up in this and may lose the sense of reality. Or a lose a sense of identity. Both frightening. I had no idea being a YouTuber was a career path. Natalie was a beatch. No doubt but like you, I do enjoy the writing and the story did the detour at the end! Def one worthy of a discussion. great review
Spot-on review, Jonas. In the scheme of things, we're all caught up playing to an audience......real or imagined. Yesteryear had no really likeable characters living within a very artificial world. A scary present and future.
You stated it perfectly in this review Jonas! I couldn’t stand Natalie, but she’s a great character! In fact I didn’t like any of the main characters! I really liked the story but that ending kind of ruined it for me.
So many mixed reviews for this book! It is definitely encouraging much conversation! Terrific review! 💞
Great review Jonas. Im siding with Jayme on her comment above. I have had the book for awhile. Normally, I dont read reviews before reading, but.. there are/ were so many mixed reviews popping up, I had to take a peek. Many reviews led me in moving the book up and down too many times -which isnt my style. So now, in lieu of reacting to opinions which I cant validate on my own volition, Im going to read this next week. Thank you for posting this review.

Your review was spot on, Jen. I appreciate and agree with your comment. I planned on reading it for the premise, but then it was selected for book club. You are so right. It should make for a great discussion.

Thank you, Stacey. I am glad you have a copy already. I am with you in regards to reviews and my TBR. This is a perfect book club selection because readers love or hate this one, with multitudes somewhere in between. I am glad you are reading it soon and will experience for yourself. I look forward to seeing your thoughts and reading your review.
Loved reading your thoughts on this one, Jonas! The reviews for this book have been so polarizing that I need to read it just to see where I sit on the spectrum.

Thank you, Nancy. I completely agree about the reviews for this one. It is a novel everyone must experience for themself. I like how you described it, finding where you are on the spectrum of love and hate for this one.
Very well said Jonas. I just finished this today and am still trying to understand how I feel about it all. It’s certainly the kind of book that will stick in my mind for months to come (maybe years).
Here I sit, writing a review (judging) on Goodreads (social media), and I am about to state how much I hate judging and social media.
Haha love the irony Jonas!
I find social media platforms, besides GR unsettling too, so I completely relate. Sounds like a very thought provoking read and a very thoughtful review!
Fabulous review! I really like how you rated 3 stars for the story, 4 stars for the writing, and 5 stars for the narration!
I have a hold on the audio, so I am so happy to see that you loved the narrator. Thanks for the review Jonas. I was on the fence, now I'm looking forward to it.
Such an insightful review— as the wife of a middle school teacher, much of what you said resonated. I’m sorry the book didn’t live up to your expectations but it certainly deals with important issues facing kids.

Thank you, Esta. I am glad we are on the same page. So many books feature Instagram, Twitter/X, and pod casts! Not really my cup of tea. Goodreads is more than enough for me. :-)
Sharon wrote: "Fabulous review! I really like how you rated 3 stars for the story, 4 stars for the writing, and 5 stars for the narration!"
Thank you, Sharon. I think I am going to start rating this way more often. I am reading and listening simultaneously more often. I always appreciate when reviews differentiate the way they experienced the book.

I am glad you are going to see what this one is all about for yourself. 19 weeks! What a wait! I hope you have several great reads lined up in the meantime. Happy Reading!

I love your reviews, Barbara. We often have similar experiences and you have truly expanded my listening experiences with so many suggestions. I hope you enjoy the audio performance as much as I did. I look forward to seeing your thoughts and reading your review.

Thank you, Heidi. The pressures social media puts on young people and the impact on their well being is incredible. I am grateful that the discussion has grown and a hint at some legislation may be drafted. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for your kind words, Alexandra. :-)
Fantastic review, Jonas. I work in a K-2 school, and the emulation of popular YouTubers is starting even then. It's troubling!
"Here I sit, writing a review (judging) on Goodreads (social media), and I am about to state how much I hate judging and social media.' - This got me laughing. We are all guilty of this, though I don't really look at GR as social media. There aren't as many trolls here. :)
Wonderful review, Jonas!
Great review, Jonas! Glad you enjoyed this one so much! Try as I might, I couldn't, so I wish I had your reading experience haha. :)
Loved the review, Jonas. I haven't been tempted by this one because (with the exception of GR) I've come to feel that one way or another, social media is a menace to society. The few books I've read with a social-media premise have left me, well, aghast.
But I truly enjoyed reading your take on the book. I guess I shouldn't condemn social media completely, because without GR I would be missing so many intriguing perspectives on the world of books.
Great review, Jonas. That's so true about children saying they want to be YouTubers when they grow up! It seems to have (almost) replaced being a footballer as a pipedream.
Excellent review, Jonas! Social media has genuinely changed our world. I am thankful to have grown up in a time without it. The challenges faced by today’s parents and children are considerable.
