I've had some good results in my other groups lately, re-organizing author promo. Making it more of a group thing, rather than the usual state-of-affairs: authors popping up randomly with a giveaway or sale and then disappearing out-of-sight. I think all that leaves readers bewildered and suspicious.

The first step to getting it all sorted out is to discover who our authors are. If you're in this group and you do any kind of publishing, please raise your hand. Thanks!

Thanks Felix. I have had one novel published The Blue Pencil which deals with attempts by shadowy establishment figures to quell opposition, especially in the media to appeasement.
My second novel Two Families at War is a crime story set in pre war Berlin, on board the MS St Louis, on the Isle of Man and blitz torn London. I have also a book about to be published which tells of the liberation of Belsen by, amongst others, soldiers of the Durham Light Infantry. I am currently preparing a espionage thriller set in London immediately before the war Summer of Thirty Nine. The first three are published by Sacristy Press

Update! As far as I can see, I should have everyone listed so far. That is, our member authors.

You lot should review how I have composed your entry and verify it is the way you prefer to be cited. In some case I had to guess at your latest release or your genre. Feel free to correct me, as just happened above with Dan McMartin.

In other cases (just fyi, to you guys) I noted places on your Goodreads pages where several of you leave out salient info which could help your marketing. For example, your Goodreads author profile should always have a link to (at least) your Amazon page or your Facebook page or some other external site. Even if you don't have a personal website somewhere on the web, you could be missing out on a sale. You could even just link readers to somewhere on the web where you participate in a discussion or whatever. A wink's as good as a nod, y'know!

I'm an author, though I haven't written anything in the WW2 spy genre, I have read a lot of WW2 fiction and nonfiction, and still have a soft spot for it.

You're still mentioned in our author-ranks, simply for being a member of the group. As you can see, your latest book is promoted on our groups' front-page right now.

The book is still lacking the 'pitch' element, fyi; and you are welcome to mention your release in the 'promo' section. It is a war-related book after all.

Liberating Belsen is essentially about the role played by The Durham Light Infantry between 18 April and 21 May 1945. They, along with the Royal Army Medical Corps, some volunteer medical students from London and German nurses recruited locally bore the brunt of trying to stem the tide of death amongst the freed prisoners.
Despite what must have been an enormous temptation they got on with their work with taking revenge of the captured SS guards. The book also tells of the long term effect that their Belsen experiences had on the soldiers' post war lives.
At the liberation masses of sound and film recording took place and the importance of this in our understanding of the Holocaust cannot be overemphasised.
The target audience for Liberating Belsen is young people who should not forget the terrible enemy that their grandparents fought but it should be of interest to all ages.

Hey Feliks, I'm not sure I've properly raised my hand. I've joined the group and have a Goodreads author page but I don't show up in the Group Authors section here. What step did I miss? I have not seen a "Promotions" folder, if that is the first step. Please advise.

No mystery. I simply haven't promoted you yet. That is because, I have no 'material' to work with. I need links, links, links. Everything is based on links. As far as I know your book does not yet have a Goodreads page because it has not yet been published. So, nothing for me to link people to.

Then, what will I see if I visit your author page, is everything filled out?

Next answer: the 'promotions' folder is called 'Author Promo' and that is where authors can post notices about themselves. (Same folder name found throughout not just my readers' groups but many other readers' groups as well).

So all this is just the first step to 'list' you in our front page. For me to tip people off about your release, I need several other pieces of info. You're doing well by inquiring. No rush. This group is pretty quiet/uneventful, sad to say...

Recently I came across Ken Follett's Hornet Flight. What a great read, amongst the best 'boy's own' type spy story that I've read.

I am a debut author and my first novel is 'Lucifer's Game', a WW2 espionage thriller set in Rome, in 1942. Cordelia Olivieri is a young, determined hotel owner desperate to escape Mussolini’s racial persecution. But as Fascist leaders gather in Rome, Cordelia is suddenly surrounded by the world’s most ruthless and powerful commanders.

In an effort to keep her Jewish heritage a secret and secure safe passage out of Italy, Cordelia forms a dangerous alliance with the British army who want to push the Axis out of North Africa once and for all.

It is based on a true event. I have always been passionate about WW2, I extensively researched this historical period.

That choice follows him across the war — through SOE training, into occupied France, and finally into Germany itself, where he falls in love with the pilot's sister. When the SS close in, the debt he has carried for four years comes due in ways he never imagined.

It is a story about guilt, loyalty, and the moments that define us — told in British English, grounded in period detail, and built around a moral question that has no clean answer.
