Oh man this is a blast from the past. I read these back in high school as an alternative to being able to play the games myself (except at my friend's house). The overall story gets increasingly convoluted past the first game once it goes further beyond the initial Disney and Final Fantasy crossover and develops a lot more of its own original lore and characters, but it's still maintained a large and loyal fanbase this whole time. Next year is its 25th anniversary!

That is crazy to know! I was never a gamer and have never been a Disney fan so this makes sense that I don't have a deep sense of lore with this long-running crossover.
