Hi guys. Firstly, I want to thank everyone for the fantastic response BOTM Delphian has received. It's been a wonderful experience, so I thought I should propose my other thriller novels.Raw Nerve: Tearing the dark veil from the face of white supremacy. is the first novel I wrote. It is the only novel I have written set in the USA. I wrote it in 1997 and setting out to write a novel was terrifying - could I do it? For me, it was like looking at the tallest mountain and deciding to climb it, but I felt this all-consuming need, a need that grew from watching Mississippi Burning. So, I suppose I was angry and determined. My favourite film at the time was Rambo: First Blood and the basic idea was to send Rambo into the Ku Klux Klan and tear its heart out.
After finishing Raw Nerve I felt this massive sense of achievement, but was it any good? I had written a few quirky short stories and one has been produced as a drama and broadcast by the BBC, but I lacked a lot of self-belief. Anyway, my father asked to read it. He was a huge fan of the classic thriller writers such as Forsyth and Le Carre - so I placed the whole ream of paper, that was the manuscript, in front of him and stayed at his home for a week whilst he read it. He wouldn't talk about the book until he'd finished reading and when he did finally finish, he simply said: "I think you'd better get an agent." I was walking on air. That was huge praise and a stamp of approval. I bought an Artists & Writers Handbook and sent a proposal letter to an agent in New York and very soon I received a call from that agent requesting the whole manuscript. In those days, agents didn't accept electronic copies, so I had to send the whole ream of paper. After that I found myself on the phone for an hour every night with the agent. Funny story: we'd got to know each other very well during those calls and soon she had a meeting set-up with HarperCollins, so I flew to New York (my first visit to the USA). She met me at the airport and was surprised I was white, because, she told me, she'd seen Raw Nerve as the next big black novel. To cut a long story short, HarperCollins didn't publish because they saw it as too controversial. The junior editors loved it, but the president and vice-president didn't. Whilst in New York, I met with a film producer who walked away struggling to carry the complete MS. In the end she turned the project down because, in her words: "I can't be responsible for riots in the streets, Tim." A bit confused, the agent had other publishers interested, but with the same outcome. But I did find myself invited to cheese and wine parties and at one such event, the vice-president of Simon & Schuster told me: "You're stretching credulity to breaking point and beyond!" I think he was referring to the fact the story features a black woman who's about to become president - I'd never heard of Obama at this time.
Anyway, I won't go on. it is enough to say, it was an eventful time. Have a look at Raw Nerve and see if you fancy reading it...
The Need To Know Principle: British intelligence cover-up murder Also, I'd like to propose the latest thriller I've written. The Need to Know Principle is born from my hatred for hunting - hunting of any kind - but in this novel I've mainly focused on the disgusting business that is trophy hunting.Apart from Raw Nerve and The Drama Merchant, all my novels have an animal rights theme. In A Seed Once Sown I take animal rights to the extreme. A Seed Once sown also focuses on trophy hunting sometimes referred to as canned hunting.
But, back to The Need To Know Principle. The story is set in South Africa and focuses on a Charity run Wildlife Reserve where the patron is HRH (for Americans, that means His Royal Highness) and the story begins with a man being hunted. The man turns out to be an American and British intelligence try to cover-up the murder due to the charities patron. However, the CIA discover what has gone on... British intelligence verses the CIA...?
Again, you can see I'm being a little controversial, but give it a try...
Thank you.
Just to add, I'm happy to organise a free give-away day on Amazon where you can download the novels and the books are available KU all the time.
Just mention here.I am in contact, and working on bringing to our group some great additions to our BOTM and Authors Q's and A's.
We have had many top authors already, which you can look at the Authors Q and A section.
With their schedules normally we can get an author for one day, but working with 3/4 authors at this present time.
Normally working with publishers, agents, managers and authors.
So here if you would like to add any names, please do.

Raw Nerve: Tearing the dark veil from the face of white supremacy. and

Is there anything that has to be done to ensure everyone gets the signed copy? I don't see where the linked page shows that it's a signed edition.
Hi PamG,Thank you for verifying this. Those interested in buying a signed copy of Winner's Curse from Brace Books can, if needed, reference Ms. Tara Anson, the owner and manager of the bookstore. Because I have other business in northern Oklahoma in my hometown of Ponca City, I am currently going by Brace's Books & More about once a month. I first ordered and supplied 50 books on consignment there, sent directly from Ingram/Lightning Source. About two weeks ago, on my most recent trip to northern Oklahoma, I went by Brace's and, with Tara's encouragement, signed all 50. The signed copies are the ONLY copies of Winner's Curse Brace's has--they don't have unsigned copies. I really liked Joe Finder's idea of offering something special to the A Good Reader group readers for BOTM (his very cool tie-in with A Mysterious Bookshop in NYC. My tie-in is with a similarly independent bookstore, albeit in Oklahoma, not NYC) Please let me know if I may answer any further questions! Warmly, LAStarks
Hi PamG,And in answer to your question, Brace's has the national page from Bookshop.org for Winner's Curse on its website. All of the booksellers at Brace Books & More are tremendous. A Good Thriller readers who order the book and have questions should certainly feel free to call (or email) the store. As noted, I just signed all 50 copies of this store's copies of Winner's Curse. Warmly, LAStarks

Hi PamG, Can you add the message about the signed copies of Winner's Curse available from Brace Books in Message 2, Special Offers? Do I need to rewrite a new short message to this effect with a link? (Independent Bookstore Day is coming up soon!) Warm regards, L. A. Starks
