I only use graphic artists for my covers for that very reason. However, I think AI can be a great tool for marketing graphics.
Personally, I would avoid using generative AI images/text in any capacity. The whole system is built on IP theft, to start with. But it also raises doubt in the reader's mind as to whether you used AI for the content as well. This extends to it being used in promotional posts, etc.
Hello Angela, Yes, that is what I ended up deciding as well. When searching for images on a stock site, I turn off AI so I don’t even see them. Its crazy how high a percentage of the images provided on high end paid stock sites are AI. UGH.
I don't use AI for cover graphics. Lately, I've been using them for "seed ideas." For example, if I wanted a blog article about an upcoming book, I'd ask AI to generate 1-3 blog headers. I then get the one I like and send it to my graphics designer to tweak/fix/edit to my style.

Do you guys ever use stock photos labeled AI for cover? (I mean photos from AdobeStock, etc. I do not mean making your own images using AI itself.)
Cuz doing so means being required to answer Yes on Amazon's question about if AI was used in ANY way in the creation of the book or images. And yet so many of the images they have on AdobeStock and other Stock websites are labeled as AI now. UGH.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
