Samichtime Great review! I’m gonna save it for when I need to get out of a slump 🗿

Justin Tate Great idea! It’s definitely a slump buster. Let me know when you get to it ❤️

Isabella Fantastic review! I read this book as a teenager 40 years ago and forgot that I was obsessed with it with my friends. It sounds like I need to read it again. Thanks for the reminder.

Aaron G. Duncil Well damn, okay fine, I'll read it!

Justin Tate Omg Aaron, you’re going to love it!

Robin (Bridge Four) I read this when I was about 15-16 and it is still one of the best books. I've never reread it in fear that it wouldn't live up to the memory of it.

Justin Tate I wish I’d read it at that age! A full education in one book. I think it will definitely hold up as an adult if you decide to give it another spin though. I’m tempted to jump into the sequels but nervous they will disappoint and tarnish the magical perfection of this book.

I read the sequels too. I think they held up nicely.

Rob Naylor I read this when I was 14-15, probably late 80s, plus the prequel & sequels. I liked them all. I never got around to reading more of her books though.

Justin Tate She died in ‘86, but lives on thanks to a ghostwriter. Looks like she made it through 4 books in this series before they were continued by the other writer. Glad to know the sequels are worth reading. I’ve also heard wonderful things about “My Sweet Audrina” which was her only stand alone novel. I got some catching up to do!

Rusty Too bad the movie version of Flowers in the Attic was so butchered.

My Sweet Audrina (book) is deliciously warped.

message 13: by Justin (new)

Justin Tate Ooh Rusty! Warped is what I’m all about. And I just nabbed an awesome turtleback of Audrina from the thrift store too. So gonna read it this year.

Too bad about the Flowers movie. I have heard it was awful. Not gonna even bother with it!

message 14: by Jade (new)

Jade Tolbert Well, you just convinced me to start this today even though it only arrived earlier today! With my own horrible relationship with my mother, I am intrigued!!

message 17: by Pam (new)

Pam M Read it in my teens and I was traumatized for life. Trigger warnings weren't a thing yet back then.

Claire I had no idea this book was so good. Will add it to my TBR. Thanks for the review!
