Full disclosure, I'm 90% done already.... 3-4 more chapter drops and we're at the end of the book.... ^____^ Excited to see how it polishes down for publishing & audio though... and I'm really hoping that they got the rights to some songs that are featured... Hays'll have fun with this one...

Started! Through ch 8 (view spoiler)[The full recap by Samantha was both funny and sad. Being in her head explains a lot of how she acts. I hope we get an answer to why her memories/mind do that. Is it self protection to prevent a really bad memory or something imposed externally?

That snake lady has some balls with her legal trickery. And Donut just ripped them off and handed them back to her LOL There is no way she's going to last long. Either a hitman will get through or Donut with some help (Quasar maybe? Princess Posse?) will figure out some legal loophole.

These races are already fucked up. Talk about no time to figure anything out. Thank you Prepotente!

Through Ch 11 (view spoiler)[I think the AI is becoming more unhinged the more it gets introspective. That's so weird. I think it's dropping hints for the future, though if it's this book or the end game... RAFO!

The races and needing to keep all the poor NPCs alive so only 1 is eliminated from each race is interesting.

The Mordecai prophecy things were interesting.... I don't think I absorbed enough of it so if someone has the whole thing to post here that would be cool. I'm sure it will matter even if Mordecai says to ignore it.

Daschund Karl and his weiner popping out! When my dog was alive we used to call it his "pink pencil" and that kept going through my head the entire time!

So many Samantha moments, her taking over Carl's room, kicking ass at Mario Kart, giving the stripper's drugs, etc.

I'm starting to think pretty much everyone is gonna die by the finale... and it might even come down to Carl vs Donut... scorched Earth... the only thing I feel confident in, is that even as the story gets more brutal, the galaxy will be taken down in the end, even if everyone else dies along the way... Floor 11 is insane... Dinniman must have had a fun time writing it, and defying any and all expectations the readers had for how the series was gonna play out... things are escalating in all sorts of ways...

I'm tempted to join Ann-Marie in an immediate re-read, and I haven't even finished yet...

As I marinate in the afterglow, I think this replaces Butcher's Masquerade as my favorite entry in the series...

I keep thinking about the ending.....I loved it so much <3

I'm up to chapter 31, so near the start of race 3 (view spoiler)[ race 2 and the kangaroo was something else. Carl should read better. Him being stuck in the kangaroo suit is rather entertaining though. So is the princess chair. Definitely could have been worse for them.

I hit the 20 comments/hr limit for the first time since January and it's hurting me so bad...

Through Ch 38. (view spoiler)[Carl switching to "worship" Eris makes a lot of sense, even without all her threats and potential rewards. He causes so much chaos wherever he goes he's basically accidentally spreading her, um, religion? (does that word really qualify here? I don't think so but can't think of anything better) anyway. It sounds like she has the potential to restore Earth in its entirety. This will be interesting. Of those 4 options, Carl being "de-feeted" is probably the best considering no one dies and they have pretty great prosthetic limbs. Though I doubt the AI would let it happen.

That war mage really had no idea what he was getting into by asking the crawlers for help LOL I almost feel bad for the guy but... nope :D I do like how the author took a little short story he wrote for the hardbacks, the Pineapple Cabaret, and is making it into something bigger for the whole series. Time to actually go read those. I keep meaning to and keep forgetting.

And yet another possible hint about Samantha/the Scavenger.

I had thought that Iain had a typo above but since we got a sneak peek at floor 11, seems like this will be a 2 floor book. I wasn't expecting that though if this is going to be a 10 book series, something had to be done for that.

oh sorry... if I spoiled something with what you thought was a typo, it's because it was something Nirkatze shared in the previous BR thread, from Patreon knowledge...

I think Nirkatze made a typo in the previous book's spoilers regarding books 9/10: (view spoiler)[saying they'd only have 1hr to reach the exit on Floor 18 after Ascendancy Wars... it was actually 12hrs, from what I heard in the book... and is much more reasonable, I think, since I don't think they'll be able to speedrun that fast, unless they get the Gate of the Feral Gods back...

I think Floor 15 (Sheol) will be mostly solved during book 9, with the parallel plot setup at the end of book 8 here... Floor 16 is a single mirror in Utah, iirc... Floor 17 sounds like a bloodbath that needs solved or skipped... Floor 18 is Club Scolopendra, and mostly safe... not much is known about Floor 13/14... (hide spoiler)]

There’re three fixes being pushed. The chapter metadata and the spaces are two of them. The third is fixing the cut-off sentence in the last-last post credits scene thing (you’re not actually missing anything with that. It just sounds weird). All three should be fixed in a few hours. You’ll have to re-download though.

The original/current audiobook chapter metadata doesn't match the ebook because of the Prologue/Epilogue and the Part splitting for Horrible 1/2, I think... since I opened the ebook multiple times while listening...

I heard my husband cackling in the reading chair yesterday so I think he’s enjoying it. I’ll be along, eventually.
