I had been thinking just last month that I should read this, but after delving a bit more into the content on the internet, I decided against it. I appreciate this review! Love what Jung did and who he was, but his books may just be too dense and mental for me.

Thanks for letting me join you, Elizabeth. Yes, I found it rather a slog, forcing myself through, but worth it. I'm a little suspicious of psychology, finding more insight through reading quality fiction and biographies honestly written. Right now, I'm reading a biography of Winston Churchill, some lectures on music by Robert Greenburg (Lou Harrison was from Aptos I believe and Greenburg mentions it), the children's novel Heidi (again), some books from the Old Testament, and 1984 which I find also kind of a slog.
I follow you regularly and want to recommend a book that deals with the issue of symbols very poetically. It is called HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES written by Joseph Campbell. It is not a slog, but it is tense with information and ideas. By the way, I read Greenberg's introductory book on music more than a decade ago and learned so much that I am now a fairy sophisticated music lover. It has all made me very happy.

I hope you got my message via another route since I couldn't reply usin messenger then. I mentioned to you that I was going to read Stephen Fry's books on Myths. I have Campbell's books and read the initial volume.
