I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Rachael Thanks for your review. I’ve wanted to read this book for a while based on so many positive online reviews. And now, just 2 chapters in I’ve come here to check out the one star reviews as the writing is awful and formulaic. Wondering if it’s worth continuing with already! I keep being sucked in by online reviews - hated broken country and crawdads too… must learn to check out the 1 star reviews too! Oh well…

Caffers Save yourself, Rachael!
I'm going to try to be better at quitting sooner the ones I'm not liking. I started AND quit three audiobooks on the first day of January this year! Ha! YAY ME!

Juanita FYI Theo of Golden is not self-published. It is published by Atria Books, part of Simon & Schuster Publishing.

According to Publishers Weekly, "Theo of Golden was originally self-published in 2023 and sold more than 170,000 copies."
It was later sold to other publishing companies around the globe, which might be the case with the copy you read.
I believe Mr.Levi also mentions that he self-published in the 'author's notes' of the audio I listened to.

Alex Rozen I have developed an effective rule of thumb: if a book doesn't interest me in the first half hour, it never will, so I bail. Theo of Golden broke the record. I only lasted 15 minutes :)
