Interesting Shahin. Thanks for alerting us to your memoir.
You must be saddened by current events in Iran and the Middle East. What's your prediction for the outcome of the current fiasco involving Iran, Israel and USA in the short term at least?
Thanks for asking, Lance. It's something I think about a lot, honestly.I'm hesitant to make predictions about geopolitics, that's not really my wheelhouse. What I can speak to is the human side of it, which is what my books try to capture.
I lived through 1979. I saw how quickly everything can shift, how it reshapes people's lives in ways you can't fully anticipate. And I've watched from here as things have unfolded over decades.
Here's what I know from my experience and from staying connected to people still there: the Islamic Republic and the IRGC do not represent the Iranian people. They've held that country hostage for 47 years. The majority of Iranians I know, and what I see from on the ground, want the fall of this regime, not more negotiations that embolden it.
When I see the US negotiating with this regime, it troubles me. History shows us this isn't a government that can be trusted. If they survive these current events, they'll only become more brutal, both toward their own people and toward the world. That's not pessimism; that's what we've seen play out for nearly five decades.
The real story here isn't about geopolitics or predictions. It's about ordinary Iranians who deserve freedom and dignity. That's what my books are really about.

Thanks Shahin.
When you say "this isn't a government that can be trusted" I know you refer to the Iranian regime, but I wonder if the same could apply to the US Government? What I've seen of it lately with Herr Trump at the helm makes me fearful for the future... not just in the Middle East but the whole damn world!
I heard Trump say overnight if Oman (a US ally) doesn't do the right thing they will be bombed! Who's next? Cuba? Mexico? Greenland? Canada?
Regardless, I wish you and your books well and pray for a quick resolution of the Middle East conflict.

I am Shahin Samadi, a scientist, entrepreneur, and
former NASA contributor who witnessed Iran's 1979
Islamic Revolution firsthand as a young man before
building a career in America.
My memoir Currents of Being — Volume I: The River
of Life offers something rare: the unfiltered,
firsthand account of living through one of the most
significant geopolitical events of the 20th century.
Not CNN's version. Not a political analyst's version.
The version of someone who was actually there.
As Iran dominates global headlines again in 2026,
understanding 1979 has never been more important.
The revolution that the West never fully understood
is directly connected to everything happening today.
Volume II: Eternal Wisdom explores the deeper
patterns — how empires rise and fall, how
individuals navigate systems of control, and
what wisdom looks like when forged under genuine
historical pressure.
