Thanks for writing it! It's really a fantastic book, unlike anything I've read elsewhere. I have a few pages of notes on some of the ramifications of the text (this will probably expand as I consider the themes more.)

I keep coming back to the section in the final chapter about the possibilities of maintaining a zoo, which seem to map to four possibilities for AI-generated simulations (maybe among other things?) Upon reading this sequence, I realized that these have echoes all throughout the other parts of the book.

The books seems very carefully written to avoid any single definitive conclusion as to what's really happening. Even the things that seem to be confirmed (Trevor's clones, Lakerman's parentage) feel uncertain. As the book progresses, before the final chapter, there are reasons to believe that Lakerman is in the game world. Some of them seem obvious but I'm sure I missed all kinds of clues. This is really the kind of book that needs to be read at least twice. (A very good thing, IMO.)
