Having looked at some of the alternatives, I am convinced SUBSTACK may be the best way to go for many of us as it also opens up a world of opportunity for authors building an audience.
Unlike typical social media sites this is designed and run with writers like you and me in mind. It will run an email list for you FOR FREE. But it also allows you to build a home for growing an interactive community with your potential and actual book readers, and others in your areas of interest. I have grown increasingly frustrated with traditional social media sites where I have tens of thousands of followers in some cases but in recent months the algorithms are rewarding outrage and cute cats not thoughtful creative writing, so I have been posting into the silence. In 11 days on there I got over 70 subscribers, which might not sound very many, but there has been lots of really encouraging and interesting interaction, and THREE people have said they have already bought one of my books!!!
