This sounds amazing but man, the frustration and foolishness of the characters makes me feel like I'll need to buffer this with some female empowerment books LOL.
ohh i looked this book up few months back and was rlly intrigued - and now even more so (tho stupidity of main characters is one of my pet peeves). in my dreams i hold a knife was pretty amazing - loved that, glad you did too <3
can't wait to read this now 👀

Haha yeah, sometimes it's so frustrating! Winstead writes great characters though (even when they are stupid) and is really readable!
Your review is totally nailing the reading experience so far! And this part made me literally laugh out loud: "I have to go do my underwater basket weaving now, it's my passion." Love it 😂

Haha thank you!
Currently reading this and I feel the same way! The fmc is frustrating, but she’s definitely supposed to be. I can’t believe she just stood by and let those things be done to her friends. She comes off so shallow and weak! I think Winstead wrote her to be the antithesis of what a reader would want someone to be in this situation, but it makes it a hard read.

It does!!! She's such a good writer that you can dislike a character so much and still be eager to read more. I'm always waiting for new books from her lol
I agree! I LOVED Midnight is the darkest hour! I still need to read her other books. Wondering if her contemporary romances are just as good?
I think they were political themed and I wasn't interested?? Midnight was really good though, and I liked In My Dreams I Hold A Knife so much!
