The version of events Hamas, Arafat etc and their supporters have spun throughout the world's media really pisses me off, but I really would rather know than not know. I know that Palestinian supporters only want to know the spin, they don't want to know the facts, like the Nazi connection, like the Mandate gave 70% of Palestine to Jordan, But I do want to know. I want to know what Israel does too but I don't need history books for that, I need the news pro and against.

Yes. I see your point. I need to know what the other side is saying. My dad does not read news periodicals online, so now has a subscritption to one of the last news magazines still printed: Time. When I see it, I brave up and read it. I am democratic with little "d", leaning towards socialism, a left winger, and Time is definitely republican, right-winger.

I was an anarcho-syndicalist if my political philosophy could have been defined at all. Now though I suppose I would drop the syndicalism. Lol. I like the model of the Israeli kibbutz. Entirely self-governing and entirely socialist, well Marxist really, for the people, but the kibbutz as a whole is a capitalist institution.

I learn all sorts of interesting things from you Petra. I have never heard of "anarcho-syndicalist" before. I have heard of kibbutz-es being capitialistic.
When I was still a young woman, Imtold my sociology study group that I would appreciate anarchy so I could just be left alone to read and write and cookmall day. They told me--and I believed them--that during anarchy that everyone will be struggljng hide and survive and run and survive. So I wanted none of that. I think that socialism might work.

Jews? I think you mean Israelis. But anti-Semites commonly use the words Jews (a religion) and Israelis (a nationality) and Zionists (a political movement) interchangeably. This (now ex) friend is a conspiracy theorist about JFK's death and other subjects. Conspiracy theorists believe that only a select few know the truth, that what is generally believed and backed up by records and even people is 100% untrue, fake news! An example is Holocaust denial. It didn't happen even if Nazis say it did!
They hope to influence people by 'if you read it on the internet it's probably true", instead of citing provable facts they cite each other's repeated words, one thousand repetitions of the same accusation doesn't make it true (but they believe that it gives their conspiracy theories weight).
Great review of an important topic. As the war turned against Germany the standards were lowered for enrollment into the SS. The Handschar Division was raised of Balkan Muslims who fought against the Serbs in Yugoslavia.

Thank you. I also discovered that 30,000 Palestinian Jews fought with the British, who were playing a double game obviously.
Cynda, Joe, Kevin. I have had to edit and delete comments on this review due to Goodreads deleting comments on this and other reviews that upset some people. I hope it is politically correct now as I like reviewing books and don't like upsetting people.

Not all. I'm going to Uzbekistan in a week or so, and was reading that all the 'stans have diplomatic relations with Israel. Last year I was in Marrakech and it was uplifting, I was so surprised.
