Erika Conrad-Wess Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. Knowing that you saw so much of your own journey in these pages means more to me than I can put into words. One of my greatest hopes in writing NERVE was that people living with TN and other chronic pain conditions would feel seen and a little less alone.
I also really appreciate you pointing out that the book isn't about discouraging surgery—it's about making informed decisions, asking hard questions, and finding a way forward no matter the outcome. That distinction is incredibly important to me. If there was a new treatment with promise, I would be first in line to find out more.
And yes... I absolutely love that Brandon Sanderson quote. "The most important step is the next one." I think that's exactly what living with chronic pain asks of us every single day.
Thank you for reading, for sharing your own story, and for helping others find this book. I hope your next step is a gentle one. ❤️
