I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a collection of self-absorbed, neurotic, people all in one book. I’m afraid my distaste for this dysfunctional family colored my entire assessment of the book. The structure , starting with the death of one of the older generation of three sisters as the extended family gathered around, then filling in details of the three sisters’ children and grandchildren in subsequent chapters worked well, although it was a bit confusing at times to remember who belonged to whom.

Susan, I didn't see it this way at all, although didn't like the matriarchal sisters that much. Sorry it rubbed you the wrong way.

This book has been getting so much attention and I appreciated your negative review. Because believe it or not while I like to raise things at the TBR I also lower them. It’s always a pleasure to lower something. Interesting that you didn’t get into it either Holly. I opened up my Goodreads fee a second ago and one of my book twin friends says she’s interested in reading it and I thought that was interesting. I think this is one that I can definitely wait on and see how Moore of the reviews fall? That said love a good honest review.

Amy, I loved the book and rated it 5 stars. I think you would like the book too! I was sympathetic to Susan's point of view, because we don't all have to like the same things.
