Johann Great review, Randy. Added this book to my list.

Van Sigh. Another person mischaracterizing Ready Player One. This book is very good, but it's no better than RP1 if you understand the point of RP1. Which is that when you move all of societies activities online the real world goes to crap. And when you value nostalgia over contemporary interaction, you go to crap.
So many people just can't see past the superficial surface of that book and it just astounds me.
But yes, this book is also good. Not nearly as good, but good.

Randy Lander Mischaracterizing is a word. Had a different opinion is another way to put it that I would not have been as bothered by. Anyway, you really don’t want to hear from my many friends who *hate* Ready Player One.

TO ME... DCC is a better book. Better characters, better world building, funnier, has a stronger point of view. It’s cool if you don’t agree with that, but I am not mischaracterizing anything. I just didn’t like RP1 as much as you did. Which ain’t a crime.

Van I chose the word mischaracterizing because I feel it wasn't just a matter of opinion. It's that you inaccurately described RP1.
No insult intended. It's just that the way you described the book is not accurate.
And the number of your friends who don't like it doesn't change that fact.
