I'll try this translation. The Odyssey can be tricky and hard to wrap your mind around. Not for light bedtime reading.

Definitely not. One thing that makes the Odyssey challenging is that it doesn't follow a straightforward timeline. It moves forward, then circles back, revisiting key episodes from the Iliad. I really liked this translation because it gives the reader the bigger picture before diving into the poem itself.

I've never read the Odyssey in its entirety, only parts, but I agree with you: Ulysses is a modern character, I think he's "timeless." I really liked your sentence: "His choice is not one of arrogance, but of consciously claiming ownership of his own life." 🙂👏👏
