I'll wait on your review! Thinking about starting this one, but it's too long for a wild guess lol
Managing to read the book before the movie comes out is a skill I struggle with but you know what we're worth it

dslkhfdk that's very valid! it's been gathering dust on my shelf for months and the movie trailer was all the motivation I needed

I AM HYPED NOW THAT U CALLED IT A GAY MASTERPIECE (also I think Francis from TSH plays a cameo role here and I LOVE HIM so I'm lowkey freaking out)
pls read it and scream about the passage on pg 353 w me, u’ll know the one. i’ll tattoo those words in my heart if i can. i think the gay energy in this book is even more chaotic than TSH, and it’s not bc Francis, my messy gay child is in it 🤷🏻♀️

oohh you have my attention 👀👀🔍🔍👀👀🔍
That's productive. You can never betray a book by watching the movie first (says someone who's done it)

the trailer looks really good!!!
Well, from what I've heard you didn't need to hurry, because the movie sold about 20 tickets and was gone before most of us knew it was out.
I don't know that Theo is gay. He seems more like an adolescent who "goes through a phase," like the GUCs and BUCs we knew in college. (Gay until commencement, bisexual until commencement). In the third part of the book, in which Theo kinda sort grows up he mentions having sex with several women, none of whom he cares about even enough to tell us their names, but his loveless sex life seems to be hetero. Then he somehow ends up engaged to Kitsey, a daughter of the family that took him in for awhile after his mother's death, but why she wants to marry Theo or why her family approves is utterly beyond me. We learn that she's marrying him as a beard for her relationship with someone else who's totally unacceptable to her family, but why is the drugged out, underachieving Theo, with no inherited money or social status, any better? Go figure. Meanwhile, Theo continues to have a chaste, unrequited crush on Pippa, who definitely does not want him. When Boris comes back into Theo's life, the two of them are too busy getting deeper and deeper into dangerous messes in the art underworld to have much in the way of a sexual relationship, especially after Boris runs off with the painting and Theo's passport and abandons him in an Amsterdam hotel.
i feel seen by this! after finishing the goldfinch i you yelled out my TSH copy — i didn’t hate the goldfinch, but it just can’t compare when you love TSH so much
I’m about 40% into the audiobook and that has been my exact thought lol. I did love The Goldfinch movie even though it bombed
Just read this review and totally agree! The goldfinch felt like a reading through a very long stress dream.
