I admire writers who admire mathematics, though I rarely find one who gets it even vaguely right, and Stoppard is one of the worst. Cormac McCarthy also failed but he at least did not fail at the first step: he at least knew that you can't just admire mathematics, you have to do it for it to exist for you.
