Thanks, Jaidee. It's a great novel, though slow burn. But it fits the atmosphere and the story. There is a movie adaptation as well, but I've seen it long time ago.

Even Umberto Eco couldn't write a second "The NAme of the Rose" (or at least, I was disappointed in his next book, "Foucault's Pendulum") -- but I applaud an author who will try to combine history with a good mystery.

I don't think any of his novels reached "The Name of the Rose". Have you read "The Dumas Club"? It's not historical, but it blends mystery, history and art very well. Though, the movie adaptation was better in some aspects.
