Scott Zimmerman * Title: Turn the Screws: Write Amazing Stories with Constriction, Hollywood’s Secret Alternative to the Character Arc

* Author(s) name(s): Scott Zimmerman
* ISBN (or ASIN): 9798186402121
* Publisher: Kostya Publishing
* Publication Date Year: 2026
* Publication Date Month: July
* Publication Date Day: 14
* Page count: 235

* Format (such as paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, etc): Paperback AND (very soon) EBOOK

* Description: Every screenwriting book tells you the same thing: your hero must change. But many of the greatest films ever made prove that’s only half the story. Die Hard, Apollo 13, The Dark Knight, The Pianist, Dunkirk, Mission Impossible, Mad Max, Goldfinger, Raiders of the Lost Ark, 1917, and The Silence of the Lambs are just some of the films studied here. Why do these films grip us like a vise? The answer is constriction: the stripping of agency, language, choice and even the air they breathe until only a character’s core integrity is left. Where the arc asks who a person becomes, constriction asks what survives when everything is taken. Master this alternative engine so your story won't be graded wrongly for something it's not trying to be. This short, sharp book gives structure to the engine Hollywood has used for decades without ever labeling. Includes a fully annotated original screenplay that highlights how to build with constriction.

* Language (for non-English books): English

* Link to book page which includes the cover and other books data on a NON-BOOKSELLER site, such as a publisher site, an author site, etc. Publishers who sell their own published books are an acceptable source.

Brad Audiobibliophile You do know that the beauty of being a Goodreads Author is that you can your own books without waiting for a librarian, right?

message 3: by Scott (new)

Scott Zimmerman Thanks Brad. I see that now. I will add it and select paperbook format, but how would I connect it to the ebook format when that publishes?

Brad Audiobibliophile Go to the paperback, click 3 dots beside edit and click add a new edition. Some of the details will already be filled in as they will be the same for both editions.

Scott Zimmerman It appears a librarian added it before I got to it. It lists the author as "Scott Zimmerman", but there are many books by that name, which I did not write.
I would like this book specifically to be connected to my Goodreads account by that name.

Scott Zimmerman Also, there is no description for the book. How can I provide that?

Brad Audiobibliophile The book was auto imported by Amazon yesterday.

I've added the description and fixed the author name. You are Scott^^Zimmerman (that's 2 spaces) for future reference.
