Book Title: 2084 by March AngBook Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLXM3QK2
About the Book: A dystopian novel set in Washington, D.C., in 2084, after America has followed its current authoritarian trajectory to its conclusion. A government surveillance network monitors every citizen. A federal agency employs "Erasers," bureaucrats whose job is digitally scrubbing dissidents from the photographic record. Marshall Smith is one of those Erasers, until a chance encounter pulls him into the underground Resistance.
What Inspired You: The patterns of authoritarianism are not new, but they feel urgently present right now. I wanted to write the Orwell book for this moment. I named a key character Eric Blair deliberately.
Book title: The Videshi DilemmaAmazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H1NXMSQX
About the book: A far future novel in a world dominated by big business, a trade and diplomacy mission focused on opportunities for eye-watering profits turns into a rescue mission to save an entire civilization from extinction.
What inspired you: I've always rolled my eyes at casts of humanoid aliens who can all speak perfect English and think & act like humans. I wanted to base a story around an alien race whose ways of thinking are different enough to cause real communications issues.
