Sorry this didn’t work for you! Be glad you didn’t read the arc! Leo’s chapters were partially written in red so I didn’t know if they were supposed to be edited or part of the book! I enjoyed her previous book much more than this one!

Yun I’ve missed you! And I really enjoyed this review. From a meta perspective on writing I enjoyed that part of the book but the mystery fell apart completely for me.

Oh, this was a surprise for me which I was not expecting. I have really enjoyed Gentill's Rowland Sinclair series, so thought this would be a no brainer for me. Sorry this was a miss for you Yun but a fair review nonetheless. And speaking of 'miss'. You have been MIA for a brief period; but so glad to see you are back. Hope all is well. xx

Thanks, Angela! So many others loved this, so maybe it's just me? When you get to it, I hope you have a better experience than I did! I've had some personal and medical stuff that has kept me away, but I'm really happy to be back and to be reading again! :)

Some of these books offer a convoluted story that creates real intrigue but when it doesn’t work. It really doesn’t. Fabulous review Yun 💖

i personally don’t understand when mysteries are more character driven than plot driven because mysteries to me are about what’s happening in the book, with the events unfolding, and not the characters. i don’t know, that’s how i see it. as important as backstories and character descriptions are, i feel like there’s a limit. all in all, sorry to see this was such a miss for you, yun! seems like july overall wasn’t a good reading month for many of us lol. awesome review!
Yun, I was let down by this one too. The story within a story is something I usually love too, but it just didn’t work for me here. Better luck next time for both of us!
