I read this book ages ago and remember very little of it. My rating was, more or less, guess work.

Time for a revisit (in the name of rating accuracy and Lord Sandwich, if nothing else)!

Oh, my! I am drowning in unread books I have already bought. No time for rereading anything any time soon.

I know the feeling, Lilo. Only I prefer to say "luxuriating" in unread books, as if they are all at my beck and call.

What does "luxuriating" mean? Please help a poor ESL reader. :-)

Oh, the unread books are a luxury, as in an abundance of riches (because surely wonderful stories or poems await within their covers).

You are right. But what I need now is a trustworthy book that tells me how I can live to age 200, so that I can read all the wonderful books I still want to read--those already bought and those on my TBR list. :-)
Always want to read this. I bought this edition and the size gives me heart palpitations. Is it that fast a read. I started it once and did not get very far. A good audio recommendations
It's been so-o-o-o long, Kerry. I do know most 19th-century books are slow out of the gate, but then they take off. I mean, if you like this kind of stuff. Maybe give it the 100-page test.

You’ve brilliantly conveyed the charm this book casts on its readers, in a few sentences! I agree with you 100% … it’s unputdownable!!

You enjoyed it, too! Great!

I'm at the point where I could read it again, I've forgotten so much. Except for the pickles.
