Cat Team Dos and Don'ts

1. HAVE FUN! remember that whilst this is a challenge, there's nothing riding on it, so do balance reading for the challenge with not getting overwhelmed

2. BE KIND :) This is text based communications, and the danger is to read unintended tone into words. Please take a beat and assume that if a message is rubbing you up the wrong way it wasn't intended that way. Read messages in a positive light and respond the same way

3. KEEP IN CONTACT. The rules require a check in once a week. This can be as simple as a post saying "still here" or a completion post - just enough that we know you are still around and playing. If you know you are going to be less present, please let us know so we don't panic! As GR has removed the ability to PM, we'll have to be more ruthless about replacing no shows - you have been warned! Note too, that just updating the spreadsheet isn't enough for keeping in contact.

4. ACCEPT CHANGES. There are a few minis going around. Whilst you might have read for a specific task, the Captains may move your book to a different place.

5. POST READING. Either add your book details to the planning sheet (link in post 8 below) and doa quick "finished" post OR provide a completion post with:
Book title link
Author name
number of pages
date finished
Any additional information for minis etc, inc if it is on the TBR list

✿~Danielle~✿ Welcome to Tower Teams 12.

I hope you all have fun and get to read some good books. Hopefully tackling some of your TBR books and making our lists smaller and not just increasing them :)

We will be using a tracker sheet, please feel free to put planned books in there. Captains will assign them against the mini tasks, but do note how they fit.
planning sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Please post a link your Tower shelf, and remember to add the books you read to the shelf :)

✿~Danielle~✿ Hi my name is Danielle (she/her) and I’m from Wales.

I’m excited for another Towers, I’ve been playing TT since the 3rd edition way back in 2014. I like this years theme and do hope to read a few off my list.

I mainly read romance with an occasional fantasy or mystery thrown in.

My shelf is tower

message 13: by Sanskriti (new)

Sanskriti Nagar Hi everyone! I’m Sanskriti and I’m from Mumbai. I have been playing Towers on and off for many years and I’m excited that this year the theme will see my TBR stack get smaller (one can at least hope so).

I’m also your co-captain so feel free to tag me in case you get stuck anywhere. Excited to get to know you all!

PS: I’m typing this on my phone so it’s not the best way to link my shelf. Will link to it later tonight when I get to my laptop.

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hello all! I'm Sarah from the UK. So many people here I've been on teams with before, it's lovely. Once upon a time I remembered which challenge and which team I 'knew' people from, but after so many years it's all become rather fuzzy... Hehe! And exciting to 'meet' new people too.

I'll have to come back later to add the link, but my shelf is tt-xii.

There are so many books I want to read on the TBR list, it's great. Going to do my best to read as many as I can, although of course library books already borrowed or on hold won't always fit.

I would try and list my favourite genres but it would get ridiculous, as I read almost everything. I don't particularly like reading lots of the same thing in a row, so tend to switch genres up and leave gaps between series books. Which backfires when I can't remember what was going on when I get to the next instalment...

Excited to start on Saturday!

message 15: by Rina (new)

Rina Hi everyone!
I am Rina from Switzerland.
I enjoy reading different genres, but my favorite is probably Urban Fantasy and my least favorite is Non-fiction.

My shelf: tower-teams-12

message 16: by Rina (last edited May 14, 2026 06:15AM) (new)

Rina By the way, I really can't stop recommending This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me (Maggie the Undying, #1) by Ilona Andrews , the June BOM.
I read it right after its release and it was amazing, I might re-read it now that it is a BOM. :-)

message 17: by Camilla (new)

Camilla Yay, we're open! I'm Camilla from Finland. I've participated in TT before, once as a co-captain, but took a break from team challenges for a while, now back. I enjoy fantasy, scifi, horror, thrillers, and non-fiction. Looking foward to playing this time!

I'm currently in the middle of three books, pretty sure I won't manage to finish all of them before the challenge starts, so my start might be a tad slow. I'm going on a hopefully very relaxed one-week trip with my older daughter to Greece (leaving 27th May), just planning on doing nothing except enjoying the sun and reading.

Marie (UK) Hi I am Marie she / her from UK. I have played TT many times and know lots of you on the team. Looking forward to another round.
My shelf is
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I read almost anything but lots of mystery / thriller. I have read some of the TBR books and not heard of many others so I have raandomised 5 to try first along with the 3 of my own

Just a heads up I have a day surgery planned for next Friday 22nd. If everything goes to plan (and I definitely have the plan in mind) I will be home and recuperating with lots of time to read rather than gyms and dance classes.

message 19: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ Enjoy your holiday, Camilla.

Good luck for your surgery, Marie.

message 20: by Silje (last edited May 14, 2026 08:40AM) (new)

Silje Hi, I'm Silje from Norway. Many familiar faces this time around! I've played Tower a few times before, and I love this year's theme. I have a few books in mind I want to check off the list.

I dabble in many genres, but prefer fantasy, romance, and thrillers. I'm also a bit of a mood reader and do many re-reads of favourite series.

My shelf tower12

Best of luck with the surgery, Marie. I have one scheduled as well, but not until the end of June.

message 21: by Sanskriti (new)

Sanskriti Nagar Here's the link to my shelf

Glad to have you in the team Silje, Marie, Camilla, Rina, Sarah!

message 22: by maria helena (new)

maria helena Hi everyone!

My name is maria helena, or MH for short, and I live in Sweden. I've played most rounds of TT and it's great to see so many familiar names here :)

My shelf is TTXII

I read mostly mysteries and especially love nordic crime, but I'll be happy to venture outside my comfort zone occasionally.

message 23: by Camilla (new)

Camilla Good luck with your surgery, Marie! I had surgery in early April, not quite day surgery, but managed to talk myself out of the hospital after one night. Just returned to work this week. Luckily this week is a bit shorter workwise, as today is Ascension Day, which is a public holiday in Finland. I took tomorrow off to make a four-day weekend. Going with hubby on a day trip to Kustavi and Uusikaupunki (we live in Turku, on the southwestern coast of Finland), planning on some thrift store shopping and geocaching.

message 26: by CynRo ☾ (new)

CynRo ☾ Hello team! My name is Cynthia, and I am from Spain. I used to participate in lots of reading challenges, but during the last 2–3 years, I have been in a huuuuge reading slump. I am slowly starting to read again, so I thought I’d try joining one challenge to motivate myself even more.
I am hoping to tackle some of the books on my TBR and finish some of the series I started a long time ago! I mostly love romance, fantasy, and thrillers.
Nice to meet you all, and I’m looking forward to getting started :)

message 27: by Heli (new)

Heli Hi guys! I'm Heli from Finland. I've played Tower Teams many times before. I enjoy reading mysteries and thrillers, police procedurals are the best. Lately I've noticed that I enjoy a good fantasy too.

I look forward to reading with you all!

My shelf: tt26

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way, Marie :-)

Hi, Danielle, Sanskriti, Sarah, Rina, Silje, maria helena, CynRo ☾, & Heli

Hope your mini vacay's a good one, Camilla.

Caps & Co-Caps, I can do questions/participate with answers for the June BOM, This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me, if no one else offers :-D

message 30: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Hello team! I am excited to embark on another Tower Teams adventure. And what better theme than to take down our own personal TBRs?

I am Kate from the USA. I read widely. I am drawn to thrillers and mysteries but can find just about anything in my library bag from one week to the next.

Next week, I start collecting for my bi-annual library book sale and will be touching all the books we are going to be selling. In the meantime, I have a short stack of library books to read and a large backlog of books I have picked up from previous book sales.

I am looking forward to re-engaging with GoodReads and logging my books as I read them and discover future TBR chaos.

It sounds as if we will be a busy group over the next few weeks. I wish health and healing to Marie and Silje. Safe travels to Camilla.

Happy reading to the rest of us!

My shelf is pico-tt

message 31: by Silje (new)

Silje I see I have the first two BOMs available as audio on Storytel, so I might give those a go.

message 32: by Cat (new)

Cat Hi all! Sorry I'm so late to the party; I've been stuck in a hellscape at work and crashing out when I get home. I AM looking forward to the challenge, and will have to get my skates on to finish current books for a clear start tomorrow.

my shelf: tt_xii

one thing to note is the bonus for reading from the nominated lists of books of all the players TBRs. The list is on the sheet, and we get bonus points for reading the book or one from the series! So do keep an eye on that list as you are picking books :)

message 34: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Didn't manage to come back with a shelf link yesterday, maybe I'll manage it tonight! Oops.

I just listened to the audio of The Will of the Many during Uno and highly recommend it. Due to library holds I couldn't postpone and read it for the BOM, sadly. I have book 2 on hold already, and really looking forward to it.

I'm really out of luck so far with BOM. Although I have Kate Quinn on hold it's not due in until July, so very doubtful it would be in time, unless someone returns it early. And I can't get hold of (also don't really want to read anyway) the June ones. I have my fingers crossed for better luck in July.

I did not realize that The Will of the Many was there too. I already own a physical copy, so now I can alternate between formats. Thanks, Silje.

Thanks, Marie, I'll check it out.

Storytel looks interesting too, might be a good replacement for Everand once my year on the old system is up and I cancel rather than pay their ridiculous prices for one book a month.

message 43: by Keli (new)

Keli Hi all, I’m Keli. I live in England but am a Texan. Though I haven’t lived there for 25 years…🤔 Maybe, I’m just generic American now. Anyway, I will read anything, but my fave genre is UF. So I will be immediately buying that IA book Rina recommended.

I don’t know how many TT I’ve taken part in, but more than not is my guess. I wasn’t going to join any group challenges this year and try to get through my tbr, but how could I not join this one!
I recognise so many names, it’s good to be on teams with many of you again. Happy reading everyone.
❤️‍🩹Marie, I hope your surgery is successful and that you have a speedy recovery.
🛫Camilla, have a wonderful vacation.
ℹ️And thanks for the heads up about series books, Cat.
☝️Sarah, I just cancelled my Everand subscription. It felt like most of the books I wanted “weren’t available in my region.” I paused it for ages and realised I didn’t miss it and that I would rather pay for a physical copy.

I'll put you back but you were almost swapped out as the game starts shortly and we are trying to have completed teams.

Glad you are still with us!

✿~Danielle~✿ We can only go east with our first maze task, which is

Task: Read a book with MPG Mystery
Direction: East (Even Number of Pages)

The book you read must meet:
1. the requirement for the direction you want to travel, and
2. the requirement for the task you have drawn.

Keli I love the maze challenge.
