Ilse Great review, Mirnes - so far, my experiences with McEwan have been mixed, but this definitely was one of my favourites.

Thanks, Ilse. I have the same experience, though I've read only two novels. Now I'm thinking which one should I take next.

Absolutely right, Mirnes. McEwan's writing was masterful here, though the story was something of a slog.

I have to be honest: the first part was really slow, and I even considered dropping it, but after I finished the novel, I realized it's a genius.
