Both great resources.

Associates for Biblical Research also publishes the excellent quarterly biblical archaeology magazine Bible and Spade, written for intelligent and interested lay readers, which we subscribe to in paper format at the Bluefield Univ. library. I've found some very instructive articles there myself.

Two very comprehensive and informative one-volume treatments of biblical archaeology, also written for intelligent lay readers, are Biblical Archaeology (Westminster John Knox Press. 1961) by G. Ernest Wright, and Archaeology and the Bible (Revell, 1961) by G. Frederick Owen. Both are written from a conservative viewpoint (Owen's book being the more so of the two); and though they're older books, they both provide a good overview.
