I read this book last year. A very difficult book to read. The mother in the book was so cruel and horrible. Tangy Mae was told constantly that she had to quit school and start helping by sending her girls out to make money through sex.

It was so sad when she threw her baby out into the backyard. I am writing this 9 months after I read it, but I remember crying through so much of it.

So cruel and so real! I have read so many memories after this book showing how cruel a mother can be to her children and what survival looks like. Truly sad!

Amazing review. It's on my shelf but after that...I don't have the heart to read it. If the world doesn't get into a better place maybe my mind will and I can eventually get into the pages
