The author is a parenting coach for moms so it makes sense that she’d write a book for mothers of spicy ones having been a spicy one herself and having a Spicy kid. I wouldn’t call it sexist personally, I even told my husband he should read this one. I personally have enjoyed how relatable it feels and I’ve read several parenting books that have been informative but this one feels a little more personable.

I’m glad you had a good experience with the book. She’s a great writer and has done a lot of good and she offers great advice in this book. I felt that directing her work, including coaching, only toward women is sexist particularly against women because it reinforces the stereotype that women are the only responsible caregivers of children. There are after all many Spicy Ones who do not have mothers. It seems needlessly exclusionary.
I think this is a valid critique, Wick. I’ve noticed that while I would read sections of this book to my husband, I don’t feel I can recommend he read it himself. The Parenting title does make it sound accessible to parents of both sexes. I do still think it has practical advice for all parents.

Thank you. As I said it’s not a bad book, pretty mid for parenting books. But it’s clearly unequivocally sexist.
