One of my favourite fantasy trilogies. I just love it.

Definitely agree with you sir. The story has a passionate intensity and tragic depth of the great romances. The characters are so deftly portrayed, the emotions and the internal conflicts, so humane, and yet retains the mythical and magical grandeur. It's just sublime.
Reread this series last year and was as enchanted and engrossed in the narrative as I was the first time that I read it. And I love books that begin in my home town, mentioning landmarks and things. Cool!! I began reading fantasy (adult) in the 80's as well and adore those books and authors. still have shelves full of them.

There was definitely something about the tone, style, and the way those books were paced, that still appeals to me today.
I was looking for something new to read, and thanks to your review I've found something both old, but also new to me. Already throughly enjoying it.
