Erin, I'm so glad you enjoyed this book. I absolutely adored it, and I don't normally like sword and sorcery.
Yeah, it was great! And it’s nice to know that even readers who aren’t into this genre usually still liked it a lot!
Erin, I'm glad you and your daughter enjoyed your revisit of this terrific story in audio. I'm about ready to read it again myself for the third time. I think this is one of the best thing JR ever wrote. And she's written a lot of books I've enjoyed. I like her YA books the best. Has your daughter read her YA fantasy series about the unfair godmother?
No, she hasn’t. She maintains that she doesn’t like fantasy elements (I think she’s nuts). I was expanding her horizons by picking this novel for us. To my delight, she really enjoyed it! Maybe I’ll suggest the unfair godmother books to her. (I assume they have a bit of magic in them.) 😁
Yes some magic and lots of humor. :)
One of my favorite JR YA books that's a contemporary romcom that your daughter might like is Fame, Glory, and Other Things on My To-do List. I found it hilarious and I've read it many times over the years.
Ooooh, thanks for the rec! I’ve had my eye on that book for a while. It’s time to move it to the top of my TBR pile!
You might also like Just One Wish. I would call it a dramedy because it's got a family issue that's quite sad, but a huge part of the book in the relationship of the FMC with her romantic interest is utterly hilarious and wonderful. As always with this author, it is G-rated and suitable for all ages.
