Matthew’s review of Def Jam, Inc. : Russell Simmons, Rick Rubin, and the Extraordinary Story of the World's Most Influential Hip-Hop Label > Likes and Comments

Thanks for the review! I know the other book you're talking about. You're correct that it preceded mine (although I had no idea it was going to be published until after I've gotten the deal for mine.) I should note that that book (I believe it was called "the men behind def jam") used very few, if any, primary sources. It was a "clip job" mostly—meaning, the quotes came from pre-published sources. Mine, on the other hand, involved meticulous research and hundreds of hours of interviews with dozens of Def Jam insiders—from Lyor Cohen to Chuck D. So it was a really involved job and I revealed a lot of details that had never been published before. Thanks for reading, and sharing your thoughts.
