Hi there. I've adjusted the one mention of 'throughout the book' to match the tone of the rest of the review. Reviews are indeed subjective to the reader. Every reader is different; some will enjoy things others won't. There are also objective components, such as the punctuation errors.
I received one email upon the request being approved, which asked me to review the work and look at the map and appendix, with no mention of it being in the 'refining stages'. This is the first I'm hearing of a second email with a more recent draft; I checked my inbox and there was no second mail. Perhaps something went wrong in contacting the ARC readers.
If it's true that I got a draft that wasn't meant for publishing, please reach out and send me the correct file (unless it's already updated on Netgalley?) and I'll take a second look.

Thank you for giving Firebringer a chance. However, I find the one-star rating completely unfair for several reasons.
First, I'd like to point something out for both you and any potential readers who may come across your review and decide not to pick up Firebringer based on your comments. You received two separate emails after requesting the book. The first clearly explained that the book was still in the refining stages. The second was an apology from the publisher explaining that an earlier draft had been uploaded by mistake. Despite this, your review criticizes the draft for not feeling publication-ready.
Second, your review is based largely on personal preferences and perceptions. Those are entirely subjective, and I can't change them. Many other readers have enjoyed the very aspects of the book that you did not.
Finally, I believe a one-star rating is unwarranted given that you did not read beyond the first 10% of the book while making claims about things that supposedly happen "throughout the book."
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I don't believe this review accurately represents the book in its current form or provides a fair assessment for prospective readers.
