I 100% agree with you.
I am so glad I am not the only one! I too stopped around the 25% mark. I just did not care one bit what happened to the characters. Creative? Yes, but if I don't care about what happens then it's very hard to keep going. And I also agree about the writing - it felt amateur and lacked development. Oh well, I tried.
I agree. Very poorly written, which is a shame because the story has promise. I managed 50% and it's a DNF. Life's too short to struggle to finish poorly written books that you're not enjoying.
I completely agree. I liked the premise but the execution was a fail. I would suggest that you read Lost Gods by Brom. Similar plot but well written.
Oh god, the stars LOL! Completely agree that the writing was terrible, but I still finished because the story itself was intriguing.
For anyone wondering if this guy is full of it as a result of all the highly rated reviews or if he would have just stuck to the book he might have liked it I will provide a follow up to his review:
I pretty much agree with everything he had to say but I actually finished it. There was very little character development throughout. It's written like a sophomore effort which maybe it is but the piss poor editing is inexcusable. It's violence for violence sake and shock factor but there's no actual legitimate fear or terror to it, and it ends pretty much exactly how you expect it to.
Look I don't agree with this being a 1 star, I'd probably put it at 3 stars but I also don't know how people are ranting and raving about how incredibly it is.
I finished it but I wish I hadn’t wasted the time. There is no character development and at points I wondered if a 15 year old wrote it. Just bad.
I forced myself to finish this. Zero character development. Why do i care? Oh right I don't!
The fact that you made a whole new shelf just for this titled Unreadable is so funny to me because it’s so true. DNFing at 45%. I bought the sequel too, what a shame👎
Yeah. I don't know what percent I got to before giving up, but once I got to Muck, I was done.
The spelling errors got me. It seemed like towards the half way point, everything started going for pure shock value, then once passing Muck, it’s as if he was struggling to finish writing it himself.
So glad I'm not the only person feeling this way. I tried to make it to at least 50% but I felt no connection to the MC, and Muck was entirely gratuitous. I can't imagine it gets much/any better than it is at 34%. I'm good on this one.
Completely disagree. You're wrong and mad about it. Lol this was a great story and apparently if youre a spinless slug, you wont like it. Stick to nonfiction.
The grammatical errors alone make me wonder how this book has such a high rating.
Hey Begotten, I can see why you like this book, as apparently you also suck at grammar and spelling. Also, those are strong words from an anonymous account with no picture. Almost all your updates are defending this book. That's weird and sad.
