Yeah! Nowadays people talk a lot about vibes, and I feel there were a lot of vibes happening in this book but not a whole lot of tangible story. The Welsh elements seemed thrown in to no purpose other than mood. I wildly disliked the ending--not just the not-remembering thing, but also the programmatic explanation of the afterlife and choices, etc.

Exactly! I don't want to spoil the 4th book in Victoria Goddard's Greenwing and Dart series (which if you haven't read I highly recommend), but it is interesting to see what she does differently and much more effectively.
