Thank you for your honest review. I too came to the reviews to see if anyone else had my reaction and your criticisms are similar to mine. I checked it out of the library and have made it to page 119. I'm giving myself a pass to not finish.
I’m on page 502 and feeling the same. The writing is beautiful but it’s so difficult to follow the switching timelines. People die but in the next chapter, they are alive again. There’s no tension building that makes me want to keep reading. I loved The Orphan Master’s Son but this one had been disappointing.
I came to see if others felt the same as well. I just cannot get into this book. I rarely put down a book once I’ve started, but this one has to go.
