Hi librarians, thanks for creating the edition! I do have a concern about the combining, though.
I understand why editions of the same work get merged – hardcover/paperback/ebook/audiobook of the same language obviously belong together. But different languages feel like a different case to me: a reader who only reads German can't do anything with an English edition, and vice versa. Language is the upstream, hard constraint for readers – format is downstream of that. So it seems like each language should keep its own work (with all formats bundled underneath), with the language versions connected via a translation link rather than merged into one. Amazon handles it that way: language versions are separate but linked listings, filterable by language.
This isn't a one-off concern for me. Here's roughly what's coming: the Italian edition of book 1 next, then the German launch of book 4, then the English launch of book 2, then the Italian edition of book 2, and so on – the series is planned for at least 8 books total, each eventually in multiple languages. If every language edition of every book gets merged into a single work by default, that means, going forward, I'd need to come back and ask you (or whoever's available) to re-flip the primary edition before every single launch, in whatever language is next – indefinitely. Is that genuinely how you'd want this handled long-term? I'd rather find a structure now that doesn't require repeat requests for years.
For now, given the merge stands: could you set the English edition (Poison Apple: Snow White and the MC Beast) as primary? That's my current launch title (October 13), and international ARC/NetGalley readers should see the matching cover and title when they land on the author profile or series page.
Thank you,
Katharina
