Section 1: Before the Dust Rose takes you back to simple, peaceful days, a shepherd's healing flute, a grandmother's stories by lamp light, and neighbours who welcomed strangers like family.

Section 2: Paradise in Ashes is about love that was never allowed to grow, a bride who never feels the same joy again, and a mother who gives up her own comfort for her children.

Section 3: Not Paradise Lost — Paradise Taken speaks of what came after, curfews before sunrise, families forced from their homes, and a young girl who still says, with pride, "We are not terrorists."

Old Pashto lines run through the book too, because some pain only speaks in the mother tongue.

I downloaded this book this morning and I'm already half-way through it. I hesitated because of the YA reference, since I'm quite a bit beyond that age but I like romances, so I thought I'd try. I think it's very well written and I love the characters. They sound like they're in high school and are very realistic. Mack is such a sympathetic character, it's impossible not to like him.
