Aelyra never intended to become a fugitive.
Once a member of the King’s Guard, she has spent the last thirteen years being slowly stripped of the woman she used to be—isolated, controlled, and trapped in a marriage she barely recognizes herself as she struggles to survive it.
Until her husband goes too far, pushing her escape timeline up significantly.
She finds out he promised her daughters are promised to men more monstrous than the one she married, Aelyra takes her three children, her dog, and runs.
With nowhere else to go, she follows the only thing her long-lost father left behind: a childhood song she realizes was never a song at all.
It was directions.
She prays they'll lead her to him... except, they don't.
They lead her to the Fae realm.
Arrandyr has no lost love for humans or anyone really. Feared by his own people for the magic he bears and imprisoned for more than a century by their Queen, Arrandyr knows what it is to be called a monster.
He also knows he should leave the human woman and her children exactly where he found them.
Except one look into her little son's fearful, but brave eyes, pulls on his heart in a way he didn't know possible.
What begins as sanctuary becomes something far more dangerous as Aelyra finds herself drawn deeper into a world she was never meant to enter—and toward a male she has every reason to fear.
Because something is hunting beyond the border.
Her husband is still coming for her.
And the farther Aelyra runs from the life she knew, the closer she gets to a truth no one ever meant for her to find.
The male everyone calls a monster is not what he appears to be.
Neither is she.
