While we love our Jane Austen, most of us read a variety of books, topics, genres, etc and we like to share about them with our fifty best reading buddies. Here is a place where you can recommend non-Austenesque books or start a discussion about non-Austenesque books. I may have mentioned this last year, but I loved Jude Morgan’s Regency novel A Little Folly! I’ve just treated myself to another of her Regencies but haven’t read it yet.

I agree for the most part!

I started a Jude Morgan book and he seems to write in an amusing style. (Jude Morgan's real name is Tim Wilson, according to the goodreads profile page)

I read it about a year ago, Abigail. I don't remember it (even after reading the book description), but I gave it 5 stars. Thinking I may follow your example and try another. I read so much JAFF that I recently was appalled to realize I struggle with following the characters in any non-JAFF that I pick up. Must broaden my horizons to develop my character memory!

I just finished reading The Correspondent by Virginia Evans for my monthly book club. Modern, all-epistolary novel that span the years 2012 to 2020. The woman who sends and receives all these letters, in her seventies, is slowly losing her eyesight. As a woman in my seventies myself, I found it an interesting character study.

The library list for this is so long, and the book is so highly rated, I decided to wait until it's in paperback and BUY it! Should be soon.

It’s a good one! Moves the epistolary genre away from its traditional limitations/absurdities, and it’s extraordinarily well structured.

Got a new book recommendation for anyone looking for something light and non-JAFF: With Pensive Admiration by A.E. Wolnofer. Amazon's description says it's Victorian, but it seemed to me it could just as easily be Regency (except that the Board of Surgeons hadn't been established yet). I have read all the books this indie author has written except one (which is now high on my To-Read list), and she's very talented.

My book club assignment this month was The Keeper of Happy Endings. Wow! What a moving story!!

I began reading sarah morgan books last year and highly recommend! It is almost like hallmark movies.

I'm just hear to rav about Mirta Ines Trupp's two latest books: KINDLE THE LIGHT OF LIBERTY: A Jewish Colonial Love Story of the American Revolution and The Jews of Donwell Abbey: An Emma Vagary

Both are unique yet Austenesque. Unique because of the diversity of the protagonists (they are Jews); Austenesque because the stories are obviously inspired by Jane's wit and social commentary, if not her beloved characters. Give this a chance. You won't be sorry!

Two terrific recommendations -- The Keeper of Happy Endings and The Correspondent. I read both this month, and whole-heartedly agree with your nominations.

I too read The Correspondent, and can't recommend it highly enough.
