This is vague, and I'm sorry. As I remember, a kid is shocked when his parents have installed a castle-like drawbridge at the front of their house. The book ends with an angry mob outside the house, with an adult protester holding a sign saying 'Send the kid out!' and the family pulling up the drawbridge.

It was my sister's library book and I only glanced through it, so I don't remember any more.

But does anyone know why the protesters were angry?
