I'm hoping to revive our bimonthly yoga book discussion here, beginning in September with my own latest novel, Yoga Bind.
We used to have robust bimonthly book discussion of contemporary yoga books, which petered out a number of years ago as our regulars moved on. But it was really fun, and hopefully it can be again.
Here's the plot of Yoga Bind:
Janelle Logan has a wonderful life in her adopted New York City with a fantastic job, great friends, and treasured spiritual practices of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.
Then her life is upended when her beloved guru is accused of sexual assault. Janelle struggles with what this rumored betrayal means for herself and her community of spiritually seeking girlfriends, especially when serious work problems add to her woes. When her cousin comes to visit for the summer, she’s also pressed to reassess her long-abandoned Jewish heritage.
Yoga Bind is a story of the shock and grief of betrayal, but also how it can lead to emotional healing, personal and spiritual growth, embrace of heritage and community, and, just maybe, a path to forgiveness and inner peace.
If you want to participate, read Yoga Bind in the next few weeks. (It's available in paperback and ebook at Amazon, most other reading platforms, indie stores, and some library systems).
I'll post discussion questions on September 14 which you can answer in the following few weeks, or use as a springboard for your own questions to me as the author.
If this works out well, I'll select another yoga book for a November group read. I'm looking forward to hopefully reviving this activity in this too-long-dormant group.
