A kind tribute, even if it is a parting ways of a sort. I have not been tempted to continue with Cusk myself, but who knows what the next decades may bring.

Thanks Lisa - it's all so vibes-based, at the end of the day. Who knows how I even came across her works, who influenced me, etc. It's all a blur.
M was already in "Second Place" (the artist novel, which I found perversely amusing) and here, by all accounts (OK, yours) has dropped to around Fifth Place. Get that woman a fifth!

Right you are, Ken! I had completely forgotten about that. I wonder why she stuck with M.
Felt touched during the review and subsequent responses regarding the ephemeral aspect of much of our individual tastes, protean and ultimately suspicious. There are many authors that I venerated 20-30 years ago that I’m rather wary of and often unwilling to reread. Most of the book authors have been joined in exile by Murakami, Rushdie and the Brit brats (Amis, McEwan, Barnes etc).
Serendipity Alan. Today I saw a review of this book and just couldn’t read the review (it came up with some of the points your raised). I did read your review and enjoyed it but will pass on this book. Cheers.
