So glad Tom came across as someone worth rooting for - that's exactly what I was hoping for. And you weren't wrong about Janice: she needed more going on than a walking cliche, so she gets a proper backstory in the new edition. Funnily enough, Tom ends up living in Thame in the books that follow - somewhere I lived myself for many years. Thank you for such a thoughtful read.
