It looks like the original import came through an Amazon catalog APi then someone cleaned it up If it’s being promoted on your social media I would personally leave it - we can remove the incorrect info that way ppl can add it if they find it

Hi! Thank you for your quick response. Could you please explain what you mean by "the original import came through an Amazon catalog API" because I didn't create any listing for the book yet...? As in, it's not even on my author dashboard at this moment... So I have no idea what ASIN it's currently tagged to or where it came from.
That being said, would you recommend that I just update the erroneous information on the current listing (e.g. the publishing date, book summary etc.) and then when I create the listing on Amazon KDP you can help me to merge the records, as well as update to the correct ISBN and ASIN?
The book was added by an author. When no ISBN or ASIN is added, Amazon makes one up and fills it in.When the real book is on-site we can merge the two records.
Note that we do not need authors' permission to add book records.

Ah okay phew, I'm relieved that it was a librarian who made the changes I was worried that my account security was being compromised. That being said...I didn't add it in though... So it's not on my author dashboard on Amazon KDP yet... Is this a cause for alarm if it's already on Goodreads?
And in the meantime (before the real book is live on Amazon KDP) since the book is already promoted on social media and this listing already exists, should I go ahead and Edit the other fields then? (i.e., the cover, book summary)
Then when the actual record is live on Amazon KDP, how can I request a merge? Do I do so on this thread or make a new request? And when the merge is done, will everything from this listing be ported over? (i.e., "Want to read" saves by readers) just that it's updated with the correct ASIN and ISBN?
There's no real point in editing this record as it will have to be merged into the proper one when it arrives anyway. But you can add that stuff if you like.Yes, all user activity will be transferred to the kept edition when merged.

Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying. And when the actual record is live on Amazon KDP, where should I submit my request for the merge? Can I do it here on this same thread? Or should I start another one?

This listing was created by someone else without my involvement, and it contains incorrect information, included an ASIN that I did not provide or assign to this edition.
To be absolutely clear, this book has not been published or even listed for preorder.
Could you please advise whether this erroneous listing can be deleted or marked as invalid? I would like to create the correct edition once the official publishing information and ISBN are finalised.
Thank you very much for your help.
