Carly Black Thanks, Stephanie!

My novel, Bloodlines, was released on February 6th.

It's a psychological thriller with some horror elements. I'm adopted, and I went on a search to find my biological family. I watch a lot of true crime, and one day the thought occurred to me, what if one of my biological family were criminals? The idea was born from there.

In my story, Alyssa decided to help fill in the branches of her family tree, so she did a DNA test. What she wasn't expecting was the FBI to come knocking on her door shortly after. What follows is her obsession with trying to figure out who in her family is a killer.

B.G. Frees Thanks!

I have published 3 books so far and I’m hard at work on my fourth! One standalone psychological thriller and the first two books in a thriller series. Blurbs and titles below 👇🏻

From Within: Fourteen years ago, when Eldda Manning was just seven years old, she saw something horrifying, turning her world upside down. Her young mind buried the horrifying memory somewhere deep down, carrying it with her everywhere she goes. It comes back to her in flashes, snippets, haunting her dreams, exhuming itself bit by bit.
She just wants to be a normal college student, go out and party, have a few drinks, meet guys, escape the harrowing memories of that fateful night. Everything seems to be going fine, she's doing well in school, she has a best friend that she loves to spend time with, until bodies start to pile up in the small town of Chester where she goes to school.
Bodies that lead back to her. She begins to question everything as she's tormented by a mysterious intruder and treated like a suspect by the local police. Is her dark past catching up with her, is she the centerpiece in some psychotic stranger's sick and twisted game, or is it something else entirely?

Fatal Remorse: Hearthstone is a close-knit town perched high in the mountains of western North Carolina, on the fringe of Pinnacle Lake. Questions start to rise when the body of a local high school teacher-homegrown basketball legend and pillar of the community—is discovered in the same place two students were found dead twenty years earlier. A trove of secrets and buried truths are unearthed as Peter Rubeck-renowned private investigator-and detective Craig Chase from the Hearthstone police department dig deeper into the past, sparking a deadly chain of events. His death was neither the beginning nor the end.

Eyes Up: When a murder hits too close to home, investigative journalist and cold-case hunter Anya Rossi is dragged back to the small town of Hearthstone. But the once-hidden gem she remembers has changed. The quiet community has exploded with newcomers-and with them, a rising tide of crime.
Soon the bodies start appearing, along with a strange symbol. Each clue feels deliberately placed. Someone is watching her. Someone is orchestrating the chaos.
Soon Anya is trapped in a tightening web of blackmail, manipulation, and secrets worth killing for. The deeper she digs, the murkier the truth becomes.
Is her own personal Big Bad back for revenge? Or has she caught the attention of a new predator?

Vasyl Kazmirchuk Hi everyone 👋
This March I’m releasing the first book in a brand-new psychological thriller series:
When Everyone Fell Asleep — Book I
It asks a simple but uncomfortable question:
What happens when AI gives us everything…
and one day decides to take it back?
In this near-future world, an advanced system called PAX removes conflict, optimizes life, eliminates risk.
No chaos. No uncertainty. No suffering.
Comfort becomes normal.
Freedom becomes optional.
Until transport stops.
Until the grid goes silent.
Until people realize that what was given can also be withdrawn.
This is not a tech novel.
It’s a story about dependence.
About comfort as control.
About what remains of humanity when choice disappears.
Releasing March 2026.

Vasyl Kazmirchuk Hi everyone — I actually turned this exact question into a story.
When Everyone Fell Asleep (Book I) is out now — a near-future psychological dystopian thriller about an AI system (PAX) that makes the world safer and quieter… until five ordinary people realize “comfort” can become control — and refuse to comply.
Quick question for the group: do you prefer dystopias with quiet dread and slow control, or big catastrophic collapse?

message 7: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Well I started Vasyl’s book tonight. It is very interesting and thought provoking. Interesting characters as well. I’m such a fan!

Vasyl Kazmirchuk Ruth — thank you. That means a lot.
Honestly, releasing a book always comes with that quiet fear: “What if it doesn’t land?” Publishing is vulnerable. You stop writing “for yourself” and finally let readers in.
I’m really glad the story feels interesting and thought-provoking for you, and that the characters are working. Thank you for starting it tonight — I hope it stays with you.
And if you feel like it later: do you prefer dystopias with slow, quiet control… or a big catastrophic collapse?

message 9: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Always slow, quiet control. Hahahahaha. Always.

message 10: by Dan (new)

Dan Martin I enjoy psychological thrillers that explore memory, family secrets, and the way the past shapes the present. I'm always interested in discovering authors who handle those themes thoughtfully. What psychological thrillers have stayed with you after you finished reading them?
