Excellent review, Karen! Sorry this one didn’t work. It is not easy for some to write a shorter novel. I think it takes a special talent to write novellas and short stories. To knock it out of the park in 200 pages or less is quite the accomplishment.

I saw an interview with him, and he said that this novel had many elements that was pure his life experiences growing up. Not a memoir, but the town itself.
Great review- I’m up for trying this one.
