It’s definitely not a stylistic choice that everyone likes, but I felt that the capitalized trigger words were really important for feeling the main character’s anxiety and PTSD. It’s jarring for both her and the reader. Through the years, I’ve definitely discovered that it’s hard for some people to empathize in the way I thought they would, but lesson learned! Thanks for trying out the book anyway.
