No worries at all, Madeline. <3 I wanted to write a message for my readers, and since I've seen other authors do it this way, I thought leaving a review on my book would be a great way to get the message visible. Regardless, I think it's okay for authors to be proud of the books they've worked really hard to put out there. It takes a lot of guts to believe in yourself, and I hope someday you understand the importance of believing in your own work. All the best.

It's not that deep, Madeline. Let indie authors promote their book. The intent for the five stars was just for other readers to read the message. As for skewing ratings, I highly doubt anyone thought that an author being proud of their work would feel 'classless.' There's truly no need to be so harsh because of a mere difference of opinion. But I also noticed you rated the book 1 star without even attempting to read it since you mentioned it was on your tbr? Anyway, kind of hypocritical but who are we to judge. Have a good day and be kind to people on the internet. Hope that helps. x

Jen Tuggle Hey Madeline, Goodreads’ review policies clearly state that an author can review their own book. It’s a widely accepted practice. Your review holds no value to potential readers, and it’s deplorable that you made an effort to negatively influence potential readers of a hardworking indie author with a 1 star review of a book you haven’t even read. Your review has been reported 🚫
